On Monday of this week, Year 4 celebrated the end of term by having a Mayan Day. We learnt about the importance of chocolate in the development of the Maya culture. Did you know that it was used as money? We found out how they became powerful, as well as why they declined. We were able to compare what we knew about the Saxons, Celts and Ancient Egyptians to see that they were not totally different after all. We retold stories in words and pictures, with some children even acting out what they had found out. We looked at different masks, comparing some of them with those we had looked at in term 1 and used coloured squares to create mosaic designs.
