On Wednesday afternoon, 10 children from Year 3 went to a Stoolball Festival at Eastbourne Sports Park. The afternoon was run by college students who had been trained in the morning by players from England's Stoolball team. Over the course of the afternoon, the children participated in different warm up activities to practise the skills needed to play the game. They had to throw and catch a ball, throw the ball aiming for a stoolball post and bat the ball using a stoolball bat. After this, they played games against the other schools there and the children did really well in both fielding and batting, with all children getting a number of runs.
Over the next few weeks, we are hoping the children will be able to teach the rest of Year 3 the skills they were taught... watch this space!
Thank you to Mr Walton and Mr Smith for driving the minibus and to Miss Hills and Miss Smith for supervising the children.
